Car Insurance Mercury (Car Insurance). Getting into first and second gear question?Getting into first and second gear question? I have 2003 5 speed ford mustang and its kind of hard to explain, but sometimes when starting into first gear the engine will kind of stall and pick up alternately jolting the body even when giving it good amount of gas, cant even floor it and it will still do it. Then, if i switch to second gear it will keep up with it until after a few seconds it will finally come out of it. Now i have been driving stick shift for only about a week now so im hoping its just something im doing wrong. But, for the first few days i wasnt having this problem. Any help me diagnose what the problem is? Thanks a ton. If you learned on that car, then you may have done some damage to the clutch which caused these problems. Could be a bad universal joint. Check out your universal joints at either end of the drive shaft. If they are loose or broken, this could cause the problem. Also, if your car has a carrier bearing (located near the center of the drive shaft) check this too as this could also cause the problem. Sounds like a bad clutch that is slipping. The engine is running fine but can't transmit power through the driveshaft to the rear tires because the abrasive material on the pad is worn so that the engine's flywheel 'slips' off the clutch pad momentarily. Not the universal. It would happen in every gear. Check for play in the clutch pedal. The play tells you if you need a clutch adjustment. Second. If the stick then actually pops out of gear, it is the synchroniser. It will not pop out of every gear at one time. Sounds like second gear. And first will be next. Truck gears are made more durable. So if a truck has these problems, a car definitly will. Auto parts : Grille Guard Mounting Kit Acura 1995 . Grinding Compound Alfa Romeo 1996 . Grinding Wheel Audi 1997 . Hacksaw BMW 1998 . I want to get a PPL, but I have some medical issues to deal with, am I qualified? I kinda have a long list, but I'm in pretty good shape. I'm 16 right now, and I might get to start flight training next summer through CAP. My issues are ADD, asthma, allergies, and eye problems. I'll describe them in the order that I think will be the least to worst of my troubles. Allergies-I really don't see how this will stop me from flying. I have food, environmental, and grass allergies, but they're irritating at worst, and I'm not allergic to airplanes. Eye problems-I have conditions known as strabismus and amblyopia, but they're correctible to 20/20, and I have normal color vision. Asthma-It used to be moderate, now it's mild at worst. I know that it's only possibly disqualifying if it has ever been medicated with steroids or resulted in hospitalization. I was hospitalized once for it at 6 months old, and I haven't taken steroids for it since I was 10. ADD-I know there are really confusing rules about this one. I know that I won't be allowed to fly while on stimulants. However, I quit taking medication for it a while ago and I'm off perfectly fine. This probably won't apply to me, but, since there are now nonstimulants (guanfacine), could pilots fly while on those? So what is and isn't a cause for concern? I'd be going for a 3rd class medical, btw. car insurance. Auto parts : > Hoist System Mitsubishi 2007. Hole Saw Nissan 2008. Hood Pins Oldsmobile 2009. Hood Prop Peugeot 2010. Just be sure that they use high-quality oil and that they change the oil filter, too. Get your supplies together Before you start the job, assemble the following items: Oil: Check your owner's manual to find the proper oil recommended for your car and how many quarts you need. (As a general rule, most vehicles require 5 to 6 quarts of oil, but you don't want to risk overfilling it.) If you have no manual, call a local dealer who sells your vehicle make and model and ask someone in the service department. Or find the information in an auto repair manual for your vehicle's make, model, and year at the library. Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System 748

Peugeot 505. * A tragic tale Before I stopped being an automotive "dummy," my family car resided for its first 35,000 miles in a garage, where professional mechanics looked after it. Whenever they said that the car needed the oil changed, I scheduled the work promptly. Yet when I took the engine apart in an adult-education automotive class, I found that the mechanics had never changed the oil! This lack of proper lubrication had led to big trouble: The dirty old oil had formed big, black pebbles, and the camshaft had practically worn away! When this happens, either you opt for major and expensive surgery or you get rid of the vehicle. As I sadly watched my dear Macho-Mobile vanish into the sunset, the major question in my mind was, "How did this happen?" The answer, unfortunately, was that I'd depended on someone else for lubrication reminders and had trusted someone else to do the job properly. Not only had I been paying at least twice as much as it would have cost to do the job myself, but I ended up paying to replace a carthat could have gone almost twice as far if it had been lubricated properly. If this sad story inspires you to undertake your own lubrication work, then dear old M-M will not have been towed away in vain. Besides, paying someone a lot of money to do something that you can do yourself in a couple of minutes is just plain silly. And if you can unscrew the top of a bottle, you can change your oil without any trouble. An oil filter: Under the hood of your car, sticking out of the engine, is what looks like a tin can screwed into your engine block. This is your oil filter (see Figure 15-4). As the oil circulates from the oil pan through your engine, it passes through this filter, which cleans the oil and removes some of the particles of metal and dirt. You should change the oil filter every time you change your oil, especially if you're going to do so less frequently than every 3,000 miles. Oil filters sell for very little at auto supply stores; at a service station, you'll pay more. Make sure to get the right filter for your car's make and model. You may wonder what happens if your oil filter gets totally clogged and no more oil can pass through it. Your friendly auto designers have saved your bacon by installing a pressure relief valve that pops open, allowing the oil to bypass the filter so that the engine isn't starved of oil. Of course, all the dirt and metal particles then circulate through your precious bearings and onto your cylinder walls until you change your clogged filter. Check the price of an oil filter at your dealer's parts department. If it's within a dollar or two of the auto parts store price, buy it. It's probably a better filter. (Some of the auto parts store filters are very cheaply made, and they fail occasionally.) . Chapter 15: Changing Your Oil 22 7 is* An oil filter wrench (optional): Most oil filters screw on and off. If your old filter hasn't been changed in a long time, you may need an oil filter wrench, shown in Figure 15-5, to unscrew your filter (but always tighten the new one by hand to avoid crushing the seal). If you're not sure what an adjustable wrench is, see Chapter 2. v* An oil drain plug gasket: This piece of equipment is inexpensive, and it's wise to buy one in case the one on your car needs replacing. If you buy your oil filter from a dealer, a new gasket may be in the package. Some vehicles don't have drain plug gaskets, relying instead on a tapered metal-to-metal contact to prevent oil leakage. Don't try to use a gasket on one of these. It won't work, and you may end up with your new oil in a pool on the floor. f Something to catch the oil: Find an old basin that's low enough to fit under your car without your having to jack up the car, and large enough to hold all the old oil — usually about 5 quarts. Line the basin with a large plastic garbage bag, opened so that it can catch the oil, leaving the basin clean. You can also buy a container made especially for holding old oil. These containers are reusable, but you have to wash them out and find a place Mercury . What does L means in the transmission lever?

This may sound unduly restrictive if you like to improvise, but if you ignore this advice, you may find that you've added the new oil before replacing the oil drain plug or changing the filter. In either case, you wind up with your brand-new oil all over the ground and not enough oil in the engine to drive to the store for more. Also, the minute you replace the oil drain plug, always tighten it completely and put in the new oil. That way, you won't forget to put in the new oil.
